Paul Headrick’s latest book is The Doctrine of Affections, a collection of short stories unified by the theme of music. “Headrick knows about music - and definitely about writing. Add in a trenchant sensibility and a gentle wisdom about relationships, and his debut short-story collection is a winner.” - Candace Fertile, Alberta Views Magazine. Paul’s novel, That Tune Clutches My Heart, was short-listed for the Ethel Wilson prize. “That Tune Clutches My Heart... is a perfect jewel, a loving recreation of 1948 Vancouver.” - Clint Burnham, University of Toronto Quarterly. Paul is also the author of a textbook, A Method for Writing Essays about Literature. He teaches English and Creative Writing at Langara College and lives in his native Vancouver with his partner, novelist Heather Burt.
