Stranger in a Strange Land

In writing as in life we often find ourselves reevaluating our identity in the face of a landscape, a person, or some long forgotten knowledge that does not recognize us as its own. Both of these writers investigate the experience of developing a working identity by journeying into the written and unwritten histories of real and adopted ancestors.

Mixed Media Session

Poetry is meant to sing. Kate Braid and Clyde Reed apply this ancient adage in a new way as Kate, already known as an expressive reader, collaborates with Clyde, a world-class improvising bassist, to bring additional depth and feeling to her poems. The result is a powerful combination of word and music that has moved audiences wherever they play.
